Description
After nearly 80 hours, this pincushion protea is finished!
This piece slowly took shape layer by layer, often so subtly that the change was hard to see. Last year asked more of me than I thought I had to give. It stretched and reshaped me in quiet ways. In many moments, it felt like nothing was happening at all, even as something was forming beneath the surface.
Watercolour works the same way. You begin with very little. You trust the process. You let each layer dry before the next one arrives. Over time, something begins to exist where there was once only an idea.
This painting feels like a fitting piece to begin the new year with. A reminder that growth continues even when we cannot yet see the outcome, and that becoming takes time.
